We can step in across a range of situations, and we’re happy to be flexible.
From a day or two a week to keep things on track, to full fixed-term cover for a vacancy, illness, maternity leave, or to buy time while you weigh up your options. Whether you need someone to keep a steady service running or to move it forward, we can help. Do get in touch if there’s anything we can do for you.
Leading ICT teams
We’ve managed ICT departments for over 25 years, with teams ranging from a handful of people to more than 60. That experience spans the whole function, including service desk, hands-on support, infrastructure support and development, software development, telephony and project teams — and includes:
– staff management;
– service structure, development and redesign, including process re-engineering ;
– budgeting;
– planning;
– ICT procurement;
– ICT strategy and operational planning;
– project delivery.
As a member of several senior management teams, we’ve also worked across organisations on strategic planning and on wider HR and structural change.
Project leadership
From an annual equipment refresh to the full ICT fit-out of a new building, we can keep projects on track and free up your internal team to focus either on the project itself or on business as usual, so the work doesn’t disrupt day-to-day operations.
Over more than 20 years, we’ve managed projects at both ends of the scale, including programme management of several large projects at once. We can offer anything from a light-touch day a week to keep things moving, to a full PRINCE2-governed project, and we can help you decide what level of governance a project actually warrants, enough to manage risk and keep delivery on track without burying the organisation in layers of process.
Where it helps, we can also run projects end-to-end: stakeholder engagement, business case, initiation and the ongoing governance boards that keep delivery accountable to the right people at every stage.
Merger support
We’ve handled the ICT workstream in several FE college mergers, covering systems, infrastructure and telephony alongside the non-technical work such as team redesign and the HR processes that come with it, to come out the other side with a fit-for-purpose service and fully integrated systems.
We’ve also managed ICT through one of the more complex reorganisations in the NHS: the move from the Primary Care Trust model to the CCG/CSU model, transferring three PCTs into six CCGs and one CSU. That involved transferring assets, renegotiating outsourced ICT provision to fit the new structure, and re-tendering to bring three legacy suppliers down to one.
Here too, we’re flexible — from advice and a steer on the likely pitfalls, through to managing the whole process. We can also act as an interim resource that keeps business as usual running while the merger work goes on, holding things steady while you put the permanent team in place.
