During a three-month spell working within the Boots corporate procurement team, we undertook several procurement activities alongside some project work subject to confidentiality constraints.
Of the procurement work, the highlights were:
- Renewal of the ITSM tooling for the Boots IT teams; the contract was over a 5-year period and was around £1 million per year. Despite substantially growing the range of tools available and moving to a much more proactive approach the overall contract was at the same value as the expiring contract.
- Renewal of a mainframe hosting service with a contract value of £12 million per annum. This included the hardware and software for the mainframe along with a number of independent software vendor applications to be managed by the hosting provider.
